Your teeth are made of the strongest material in your body – enamel. However, teeth can break, crack, chip, or get infected, leaving your smile not looking or feeling its best. Thankfully, Dr. Banda offers dental crowns in Bloomfield as a way for you to strengthen and protect your smile. Each dental crown we make is personalized to meet the needs of our patients for amazing, lasting results. Keep reading to learn more about dental crowns and how you can benefit from them!

What is a Dental Crown?

Dr. Banda often uses a crown to restore the beauty and function of a severely damaged tooth. Also known as a cap, a crown gets its name because it completely covers or “crowns” the tooth and extends just below the gum line. The location and function of the tooth determines whether our dentist in Bloomfield will recommend an all-ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM), or gold crown. In addition to damaged teeth, he may recommend crowns for issues like permanent discoloration, misshapen teeth, or after root canal therapy.

The Dental Crown Process

Placing a crown takes two visits. At the first appointment, Dr. Banda will prepare your tooth, take an impression to send to our 100% American dental laboratories, and then fit you with a temporary. You'll return to our office after your restoration is prepared so that Dr. Banda can cement the permanent crown in place. He'll make modifications, if required, to ensure a comfortable fit. We use several world-class dental laboratories. Each specializes in certain types of restorations, so your crown will be fabricated by the lab most suited for your particular needs. In any event, we guarantee that all of our restorations are made in the USA, and only the world's highest quality materials are used.

The Benefits of Getting a Dental Crown

Dental crowns are one of the most popular treatment options we have to offer because of their many advantages, including:

  • Durability: Dental crowns are designed to last for 10 to 15 years with proper care like brushing, flossing, and visiting our office regularly. This allows you to eat, speak, and smile with total peace of mind.
  • Personalization: Dental crowns are made from precise impressions of your smile. This allows a high-tech dental lab to match the exact size, shape, and shade of your crowns to the rest of your teeth for the most natural looking results.
  • Versatility: Because dental crowns are designed to cover the entire visible portion of the teeth, they can correct a variety of problems like discoloration, cracks, and chips all at once.
  • Protection: Dental crowns strengthen and protect damaged or decayed teeth to prevent your smile from getting weaker and more prone to injury.

If you’re ready to start enjoying these benefits, please don’t hesitate to contact our office and schedule an appointment with Dr. Banda.
